Combining traditional cultural habits with modern Tokyo
lifestyle, Kimi no na wa portrays a solid foundation where people interested in
Japanese culture and animation, a.k.a. anime, may immerse themselves in
jaw-dropping sceneries including rural v.s. city experiences. The protagonists
of this film are two teenage individuals, Taki and Mitsuha, which undergo a
body switching experience and are confronted with their respective homes. 君の名は
managed to combine a mix of time-travel, body switch and “natural” disaster
making it the highest grossing anime movie of all time worldwide. Stealing the
number one position to Spirited Away by the very much recognized film director
Hayao Miyazaki. すごい
(sugoi) film!

One of my favorite movies from last year. Still funny how hard the director is on it - he even said something along the lines of "I really don’t want Miyazaki to see it because he will see all its flaws." - I thought it was very enjoyable too!
ReplyDeleteI definitely love this movie. Makoto Shinkai has produced a lot of fantastic short anime and movies. Highly recommended!
